special clinic, and they are taught to use the ordinary apparatus. The Lecturer is one of the Surgeons on the Hospital staff who has specialised in this subject.

43. Radiology. A course of lecture-demonstrations is given once a week by the Hospital Radiologist. Students are taught the principles of X-ray treatment and Radium Therapy. The depart- ment is equipped with modern apparatus; it possesses 200 mgm. of Radium. Demonstrations of physio-therapy methods are also provided in the department. Arrangements are made for Physiology students to attend for demonstrations of the functions of the thorax and abdomen.

44. Diseases of the Skin. The students attend a course of lecture-demonstrations, and a clinic is given once a week by a Physician of the General Hospital, and are taught simple laboratory methods, biopsy and histo-pathology. Many leprosy cases are seen, and instruction is given in their examination, diagnosis, and treatment.

45. Anaesthetics. The Anæsthetist to the General Hospital gives a short course of lectures, and supervises personally the practical training in administering anæsthetics in the operation theatre. Each student is required to conduct twenty-five cases.

46. Nursing. A nursing course of six to eight demonstrations is given to students during the first three months, on first entering the Hospital, by the Sister Tutor. The instruction includes bed- making, changing sheets, prevention of bed sores, temperature charts, hypodermics, diets, enemata, fomentations, sterilisation and care of instruments, etc. It is a most useful and necessary

course.

47. Venereal Diseases. A course of lectures is given by the Venereal Diseases specialist, and students see Venereal Disease cases in the wards, where there are twenty-six beds available. Students attend in batches during the vacation. They are taught to give injections, put up the dark field microscope, and stain and examine all slides.

48. Instruction in Mental Diseases is given at the Government Mental Hospital by the officer in charge of the institution. Instruction in Infectious Diseases is given at the Municipal
